In a few hours, OnePlus will announce the launch date for its flagship smartphone, OnePlus 7. Ahead of the announcement, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed some key details of OnePlus 7.
In an interview with The Verge, Lau confirmed there will be two smartphones – OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus will also offer a 5G variant for OnePlus 7 Pro. The highlight of this event will be OnePlus 7 Pro, according to details shared by Lau. OnePlus 7 Pro will feature an upgraded display on which the company spent thrice more than the previous OnePlus phones.
“The first time I saw it myself, I was stunned,” The Verge quoted Lau as saying. He further adds that the OnePlus 7 Pro display will be “super-smooth and very crisp”.
Leaks suggest OnePlus 7 Pro’s display will have a high refresh rate of 90Hz. Asus also offers the same on the ROG Phone . In terms of specifications, OnePlus 7 Pro is said to feature a 6.64-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display. The ‘Pro’ version of OnePlus 7 is also expected to pop-up selfie snapper and a triple-camera setup.
The smartphone could offer a 48-megapixel camera paired with a telephoto lens and ultra-wide lens. More features on the OnePlus 7 Pro include a 4,000mAh battery along with 30W Warp Charge.
With triple the expenses on the OnePlus 7 Pro, the pricing is also expected to increase. OnePlus has maintained the mid-range premium segment crown for years now. The company has however been increasing prices of its flagship phones every year. The most recent OnePlus 6T McLaren edition comes close with a price tag of Rs 50,999.
OnePlus 7 , on the other hand will launch with a 6.4-inch AMOLED flat display and a waterdrop-styled notch. OnePlus 7 will also offer a 48-megapixel primary sensor but on a dual-camera setup. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with up to 8GB of RAM.
OnePlus will reveal the launch date for OnePlus launch event at 6:30 pm IST. The company is however, tipped to launch its new phones on May 14 with the event taking place in three places including Bengaluru in India.
